China source outsourcing, at its first glimpse, may not seem to be that attractive because of some false beliefs that have risen about the reliability of China’s supply sources. To many people, products made in China means textiles, footwear and toys of doubtful quality. But the fact is that China source companies are now involved in manufacturing machinery and electronics devices that are of excellent quality and mainly exported. Labor cost in China is comparatively lesser than other places, but the workers over there are well educated due to the efforts made by the government. Chinese government is very protectionist about the business deals in the domestic market; but in also lays emphasis on the need for the improvement of export business.
For their competitive advantage, the companies all over the world are now willing to have business with China source companies. China is moving towards globalization and has increased its share in the competitive business environment.
Pros and cons of China source
China source has a number of benefits, but it also has some disadvantages which must be clearly understood before making a decision.
The most important advantage of China source is its low cost services as well as manufacturing, which are predicted to remain low for a good time in future also. The great assets of educated labor, which are available at low cost, particularly make up the choice of the interested companies. China’s manufacturing potentials continue its evolution towards machinery and electronic devices, which include high technology gadgets, automobiles and other products that makes the China source business such a big success.
The disadvantages of the China source include intricate decision-making and logistics. Non standard communication channels and means of transport as well as the lengthy supply chains and the invisible costs add to the problem of long logistic delays. However, authoritarian development makes the foreign industries to establish completely owned foreign ventures but this can put you across various challenges. You need to have considerable capital investment and a comparatively longer payback period.
Other Considerations
Beside these points, there are some other factors responsible for various intricacies involved in the business, like the opaqueness in the legal system and stability in the economical status of China. It makes the investing companies to make a detailed research about the China source companies.
China source business does not attract the foreign companies as much as it is capable of. This is due to wrong myths spread about the supply sources of the Chinese companies. But still China source is coming out as a big name in the outsourcing business, as it is transforming its business activities toward high tech machines and equipments which are in a great demand today, especially in the international market. The lowest labor cost and high literacy level among the workers make it a very successful outsourcing business destination. But the low quality of transportation and means of communication is the biggest negative for China source business. The continuous economical and political flux also affects the success of China source outsourcing business. This makes the interested foreign companies to investigate thoroughly about the companies, so that they can handle various the forthcoming problems related to the bus

There can be apprehension for various civilizations to flourish and subside. China is one of those countries is blossoming and has a lot to go for in recent future. China has given distress to many Western counterparts because of its important position of China Sourcing in international trade and the requirements of nations for global resources, such as fundamental raw materials like steel and iron for manufacture and energy to its immensely booming economy. China is also another budding market in international trade as an important sourcing location.
The political and cultural development of China has now transformed it from a restricted society within a dominion economy, which focuses on the betterment of the whole towards a more commercial model and focusing on the good of the individual. This has created a need for utilization amongst its people for Western goods as well as an urge to have relations with it in international trade. Simultaneously, the opening up of business boundaries locally with India and worldwide membership has also given access to Western organizations that see China as beneficial source of delivery and production; with typical recorded savings on production expenditures when compared to Western supply of around 50-70 percent. At the same time, as there are risks with China sourcing such as haulage costs and losses, developing of relations, legislation, patents and communication, it is obvious that the benefits compensate these expenses.
Global sourcing also has a quest for cost savings and this can be fulfilled easily by China supplies. For a long time, china has been a leading producer in categories such as televisions, air conditioners, motorcycles etc. But, off late, the prospect to source from China have expanded, which comprise of high tech products as well as apparatus that are part of more complex prototype. For most of the companies China manufacturers offer three broad benefits for savings.
1.The first is related to raw materials and labor. Producers in China benefit from a massive pool of workers, stretchy working conditions.
2.The second is the one sometimes ignored called as wealth avoidance. These include lower setup land and factory costs.
3.The third advantage is a more recent enough lies in low cost product design and research and development actions.
There are even different levels in China sourcing having its advantages. What these above advantages lead to is encapsulating worldwide expansion in international trade.
2.The other level is purchasing elements or even products. The profit here is a low cost structure relative to the rivals that are not quick enough. Also, knowledge gathered with work culture is valuable.
3.The third gain is developing broad sourcing and developing an integrated approach. This leads to greater savings and products are better developed. Also capability planning is integrated and plants are equipped to contain full economies.

Is sourcing in China worth it?

Amber McCrocklin, a small scale business owner began Paws abroad that created a line of gear for pet owners who took their dogs on boats and ships. By handcrafting life jackets and water leak proof leashes, she started in a small scale. But, when orders began pouring in she decided to relocate her operations to China. She knew China Sourcing would cut costs by half and give her ample spare time to design more products to increase Paws Aboard -pawsaboard.com. On the suggestion of another Indianapolis trade owner, she appointed an engineer in Shenzhen to do over and redesign the products for mass manufacturing and found a factory to do the work. The production increased five fold and her profit margins were doubled.
But problems started. The grips on her life jackets were breaking, to add up shipments were delayed, and her contact in China was not at all responsive. Doubts aroused whether China Sourcing was not all that productive for her. McCrocklin's endurance finally hit the sky when she came upon 3000 defective pieces of leashes. The tables turned completely and logos were all upside down. The orders were rejected. McCrocklin didn't want her patrons, retailers and online business people to see the shoddy work.
A bad batch of leashes may seem trivial compared with the potentially deadly output of Chinese suppliers that caught the media glare across the International trade arena worldwide for 1.5 million toy trains layered with lead paint and 60 million contaminated toxic pet food. In July the Food and Drug Department banned shrimp and four varieties of contaminated farm-made fish from China.
All of a sudden China Sourcing standard procedure for thousands of entrepreneurs looked bleak and difficult. Now business industries must feature in the true cost of obtaining their products at the International trade beating the China price. Andrew Bartolini, an expert on China Sourcing, at a top research firm in Boston said that low costs come always came with risks.
Big companies also had problems dealing with the negative consequences from defective products and unsaleable goods and bad publicity and lawsuits. Menu Foods, a $303-million-a-year giant firm had to spend $38 million recalling melamine-tainted pet food. Foreign Tire Sales nearly went bankrupt when faced with a $90 million price tag for its recall. The company, which sold only 700,000 tires last year, had to replace 450,000 manufactured by Hangzhou Rubber Co. having dangerous defects. Thus China Sourcing also means inviting risks and large losses in business.
The dark cloud over Chinese suppliers does have a hope of silver lining. Some Business entrepreneurs imitate the ways in which multinationals control supply chains. Some companies take care of everything from inspecting quality control to assuming liability for a factory’s output. With China sourcing partners, the quality of middlemen is very important. Checking with other importers and trade associates are a solution to find reliable middlemen. So, the final doubt is that is China Sourcing worth all these risks and upheavals? The debate goes on.

China Sourcing-An Opportunity
- Posted by Cosmo in Trade knowledge

China being a prime location and a variety of products are imported from this destination. China Sourcing has become a debatable topic these days. But there are certain doubts on the quality of goods manufactured in china, especially in the supply of drugs and food products. Top class quality and safety are an important focus in international trade. Quality issues cannot be taken lightly in view of China Sourcing in the B2B market. Hence, it has become necessary to view China Sourcing in the wake of the quality problems that are happening in the B2B market. But the fact lies that minor problems are an inevitable part of a large trade market.
Manufacturers sourcing from China are in for an increase in China export tariffs or a reduced rebate rate. For the western counterparts, prices will increase and there could be as small as 2% or a great increase of more than 10%. Distributors and wholesalers are wary of these facts and are cautious enough to avoid risk factors.
But, Global sourcing from China clearly presents an opportunity for companies in the manufacturing sector with minimum possible risks. From a struggling economy China has emerged a winner in international trade in a short span of 15 years. Without following the stringent rules and regulations in maintaining the normal safety standards, it would not have been possible for such a dynamic growth.
Chinese duty free commodities like shelled groundnuts, executive hand drawn paintings and drawings, original engravings and lithographs, original sculptures and other materials are a boon to the international trade.
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has been a blessing for the international trade as well as China sourcing. Many grand economic decisions especially related to long-term international trade will be decided and act beneficial to the country. The product categories that include technology oriented, less polluting, or less resource intensive are not currently affected by the VAT. The material increases are being felt globally. Some countries can avail the use of raw materials at much lower prices whereas it is quoted at higher rate in some other country. What one supplier pays in one country differs vastly than what another supplier in a different country pays for that same material.
The risks still remain with the medium sized manufacturers, while global sourcing from China or any other country clearly is an opportunity for companies in the manufacturing sector, these opportunities also brings major risks. Thus the benefits and risks of global sourcing go hand in hand triggering the international trade.

China Sourcing- Pros and Cons

International trade has seen a rise of sourcing to almost a new level, since the first time it started with the developing economies proving their metal. Then, it was a strategic move for companies wanting make quick money from the low cost countries. But, as this sourcing from countries like China has become the taste of success, in contemporary times sourcing is a necessity. It has become a necessity because of the existing cut-throat competition. Fierce competition has compelled many hesitant companies to source products from low cost countries. Expected returns and competition have forced companies to seek reduction in expenditure and simultaneously maintain the product quality.
A large number of companies are gearing up for sourcing products from China. Companies like Carrefour have China sourcing for a large range of their products with a 40% cut in expenditure as compared to buying those products from their respective countries. Products like chemicals, basic commodities, packaging, molding, casting, small machining and many other products or components are an important part of China Sourcing. Intelligent companies source only a fraction of their components where they can get the best results, while others are produced in the country. This can be done after a thorough market analysis. One such company is Ford Motors. It is very important to realize that it is not as easy to relocate all the sourcing strategies in a small period of time. In global sourcing, many companies have failed to meet the requirements due to lack of analysis and planning. This was because evaluating suppliers and managing supply chain operations turned out to be a little more complex then assumed.
But proper knowledge regarding sourcing can be collected from the numerous web portals that give information regarding global sourcing. Also, the other way to collect information regarding sourcing is the fairs. These two have facilitated searching of China manufacturers for sourcing material from China. A company can be convinced of the professionalism by a very attractive website and a very convincing sales proposition. But, the most difficult job is to find good suppliers. It is very difficult for many companies to convince the suppliers. But this is not the end of the struggle. Custom delays and lack of proper communication are also reasons for making sourcing a less appealing option. Language and culture factors are often neglected. A number of companies considered only the cost factor but did not pay heed to factors like communication gaps, language barrier and cultural barrier which later on turned out to be bigger threats than anticipated.
Thus, although China Sourcing is a sure shot success in current times, but for it to be success there are certain norms that a company needs to follow. Top management is required to understand the broader view and only then make a sourcing strategy. Middle level management needs to make sure that the benefits of the low cost strategies outweigh the risks and inventory costs. With, this approach a company can safely invest into Chinese sourcing and make the most out of the low cost strategy and also the innovations Chinese products are bringing into the international trade.

Cost Secrets of China Sourcing
- Posted by Nicholas in Trade knowledge
- 2007, November 16th
A strategic view in favor of China Sourcing can provide an outcome as to how one can profit from blockages in supply chains. Many of North American and European businesses for the past many years have ridden the upsurge in China sourcing. China's supply of low cost labor is the main attracting factor. But, nothing is permanent and sourcing from China has shown many disadvantages. The factory side is not an issue in China but the supply chain which supposed to get raw materials to assembly plants and finished goods to retail units on time is an issue. The failure to do likewise can have a major blow on operating margins as victory depends on having what is selling in stock at the correct time. A new study says that companies that manage the increasing supply-chain troubles with creative solutions will get a profit from this challenge.
In view of China Sourcing, Mr. George Stalk Jr, an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and partner of Boston Consulting Group of Canada Ltd, talks of surviving the China Sourcing adversaries. There are options for North American and European businesses to steer clear of the growing traffic at ports and also in freight transportation systems. These disturbances, such as those which occurred at U.S. West Coast ports affecting the 2004 Christmas sales, where profit margins were affected adversely. Stalk notes that fast development of ports and rail communications to manage the increased cargo from China is unlikely.
The China Sourcing market is attracted by cost effectiveness. Attractive low costs alternatives such as air-freight which may appear costly initially but may actually lower expenditures by lowering the hidden costs of stock outs. Light, high-margin, highly unpredictable demand products like fashion goods can be benefited by this. Investment in premiums and an increase in capabilities - for example, for priority checks or improving their internal abilities to move goods in a fast and efficient way around congestion, are good.
According to Mr. Stalk diversifying with many suppliers and supply chains or producing major components and products locally in domestic market, accepting high unit manufacturing costs as a cover for lower supply- chain costs and dependable delivery schedules will help greatly. For example, they can transport some or all manufacturing operations to domestic terrains that is- moving them closer to home. This causes China manufacturers to be cautious in dealing with the International trade.
International trade is cost effective. Labor costs are much higher in parts of South America, Mexico and the Caribbean islands but significantly lower than in United States. So these are a favorable option other than China for U.S. Companies.
China Sourcing has emerged a winner as a primary commodity supplier for items like minerals, vitamins, calcium products, amino acids etc. Stalk advises that it will not be a cakewalk for businesses in China Sourcing to find out their own solution but with the correct strategy, they can turn the supply chain hazards into a golden opportunity.

Coping Up With the Culture Shock in China Sourcing
- Posted by Sammy in Trade knowledge
- 2007, November 16th
Tag : culture, manufscturer, shock, sourcing
China Sourcing will sooner or later require the concerned party to take a trip to the country. Right preparation and timing are key factors to the success of the visit. Many Westerners are unaware that during the Chinese Spring Festival that falls in late January and early February,
business almost comes to a standstill. A visit made during this time would be a total failure. In addition, companies need to program their tour and lodgings at least two weeks in advance and should inform the prospective business partners in China of their strategic plans. The Chinese love to demonstrate their hospitality, and they would undoubtedly organize many activities for their foreign visitors.
Meetings are very different in Chinese cultural background. While in America, people desire to get right down to discussing business, the Chinese would find this attitude or approach to be very rude. Meetings are begun by swapping of business cards. The cards give them the desired information of the person concerned with whom they are meeting without the requirement of asking lot of questions which is considered as uncomfortable and too inquisitive. The Chinese approach to International trade is very gentle to begin with. Following this procedure, most meetings are started with some tea and some brief informal chat. This tête-à-tête may seem trivial and pointless for most American business people particularly if they are on a tight schedule, the Chinese still feel it is important to form a bond of friendship and trust before communicating important topics. Without doing this ground work the Western company's efforts to form a business relationship will prove futile.
Discussions can also be complicated for Westerners to get used to. While most Americans have no trouble declining an offer out rightly, the Chinese try to keep away from saying anything negative. Instead, they hint it in a roundabout way hint the fact that the business offer has been refused. These subtle hints are difficult to be picked up by any first time negotiators in China unless they pay attention very carefully. Also, many negotiators feel thrilled because the Chinese businessmen seem to say yes to almost everything, so they feel it is a smooth ride. However, most of these positive responses have no real meaning. Moreover, most of the negotiation dealings will not take place in a stifling boardroom or office but will be happen over dinner or lunch. China Sourcing is where entertainment and business go hand in hand.
A translator is a must while dealing with Chinese manufacturers and top big shots of the company need to be present. These points are overlooked by most of the western businessmen while dealing in International trade. A translator always prevents any miscommunications which can happen in any lucrative deal. Chinese appreciate people high on rank and seniority. High level executives need to be sent to handle the negotiations. By taking care of these steps and by being culturally aware companies can become more efficient in China Sourcing.

The Chinese Sourcing Wave
- Posted by Oliver in Trade knowledge
- 2007, November 16th
Tag : markets, products, sourcing, trade
Globalization and international trade has acquired a new definition in the last 10 odd years. This can be seen easily if one looks at the trends market has followed in as much time. One can now define Globalization as the supply of products and components from the so-called Rapidly Developing Economies (RDE). The most popular among them is China. China sourcing is on the minds of most of the companies in the West for reasons that are by now, well known to all.
This trend has brought a drastic change in the sourcing strategies of many companies, if not all of them. Most companies are willing to go through the cultural differences, it will have to face while shifting their sourcing plans and also the hardships involved in shifting major portions of their sourcing thousands of miles away from their home. This trend has hit the international trade so hard that companies hesitant to this change are soon going to realize the mistake they are making. This is because global sourcing is evolving at a rapid pace and those who fail to catch up are at a loss which is quite unexpected.
China Sourcing for low costs:
The first reason why Western companies being lured by the Chinese markets was low cost finished goods as well as components. The benefits were there for both their own markets as well as the Chinese markets. Many companies from around the Globe established their sourcing offices in China in order to implement their low cost strategies. The major reason that caused this change in trend was that rapidly developing economies like China demonstrated the world that they are capable of producing world class products and components at a price that is way low as compared to the market prices of the already developed economies. The only hurdle that companies coming in had to face was a shortage of qualified suppliers and also that of global sourcing people.
China Sourcing for innovation:
The first reason was always the low costs of China manufacturers contributing to Chinese markets. And this was also the initial driving force for most companies. But, as China Sourcing matured, so did the China suppliers. Gradually, innovative designs were developed in China in almost all kinds of industries, be it consumer electronics goods, IT firms, automotive tools and various others. Innovations with the customers in component and product design are a success these days. Currently, many of the Chinese suppliers are designing new innovative products for the international markets as part of integrated supply chain.
Thus, we can conclude that the international trade has been rocked twice by the China sourcing wave. The first wave was the one in which companies ran to Chinese markets to implement their low cost strategies. This first wave developed the base for Chinese products and components world wide. And then, just like another heavy blow came the second wave of China sourcing. This was that of innovation, which brought to people’s attention a variety of innovative products at an unbelievable cost. And, so with its double blow the China sourcing has had a lasting impression on the international trade in the last decade of globalization.

Business to Business Negotiation in Global Sourcing

In a global sourcing B2B negotiation, monopolistic pressures are less likely to be exerted cautiously as many negotiation processes are planned for B2B environment particularly keeping in view, the long term relationships for global sourcing. Recognizing the behavioral pattern of people during the negotiations helps gain a competitive edge in a business to business scenario.Business to business negotiations permit certain margins for cost over-runs unlike when you are global sourcing for own consumption by way of letting you monetize the B2B goods as they are available at your port. But on the B2B negotiation table for import/export, the best strategy to adapt is letting the opposite party do the bulk of talking and wait for loose ends to pitch in. Besides, this keeps your lacunas in your preparedness with regards to import/export procedure of that country.Simple tips such as frequent change of passwords can act as a strong deterrent to anyone bent upon cracking passwords by use of brute force and hence the e-commerce activity carried out in this manner can be done freely without much tension of lost or stolen information and so forth. International trade often involves carrying out of import/export and global sourcing activities and this does involve frequent exchange of sensitive data via e-commerce technologies and this sensitive data could be in the form of personal particulars, credit information and so forth. This data should not fall into wrong hands. As is known, Global sourcing is only a business strategy to ensure smoother and cost effective enterprise transformation, accessing new markets using key geographic advantages such as cost differences, labor strengths and time zones. The obvious advantages
China business has rests in its geographic location from key markets and major governmental thrust for infrastructural development driven import & export. As we stand today, import and export is driving the whole of
China business and with it, the economy.

Internet Sourcing

At the end of it, internet sourcing is all about being a part of supply chain management platform and sourcing strategy, if you ask guys from global sourcing or multinational purchasing companies. Thanks to broadband and the patronization internet sourcing enjoyed from global sourcing and multinational purchasing firms, internet sourcing is all set to become more and more powerful.
Drivers of Internet Sourcing By Multinational Purchasing
The biggest of the drivers for multinational purchasing as well as global sourcing companies to prefer internet sourcing is the fact that the booming consumerism backed by some of the low cost, reasonable quality electronic products from China which rekindled the desire to own things they would otherwise think twice to buy. Apparently, taking recourse to the old and traditional ways to multinational purchasing would fail to meet demand surges and will most definitely throw global sourcing companies in the lurch. But is this sufficient enough reason for the mature global sourcing market to jump on to the internet sourcing band wagon for a complex multinational purchasing process? Well, look at some facts here. Internet sourcing, for multinational purchasing activities by global sourcing companies helps strengthen proceedings for global sourcing, making use of consolidated purchasing in addition to deepening the association between themselves and manufacturers/suppliers, through combined execution of internet sourcing. Major global sourcing firms are no more afraid of taking internet sourcing route for faster and perceivably secure procurement, no matter how big the multinational purchasing deal may be.Patronization by Multinational Purchasing Firms This patronization of internet sourcing by global sourcing majors reflects on another face the multinational purchasing activities are shifting at. Internet sourcing is not always about savings but its mathematical precision with which it facilitates vendor listing, source development and sets the ball rolling. It is for sure that more and more global sourcing companies are moving towards internet sourcing for their multinational purchasing needs because of its real time performance and pricing. Thanks to a recent report by Guardian, the rise in internet sourcing can be attributed to the rise in online retail sales which is over and above the traditional counter sales which consequently pressurized global sourcing agencies for adapting more efficient and quicker multinational purchasing models.

Strategies for China Sourcing
- Posted by StevenGreen in Expert Blogs

Tag : China, company, sourcing
China Sourcing has evolved into a global supply chain strategy with the emergence of china manufacturers to the fore. It no longer comes across as an option but a significant imperative.
China sourcing offers freedom of business planning to be competitive by way of reduced costs. If at all there are limitations, for the success of China sourcing, it is only in the form of
1.Lack of understand
2.Lack of incentive
3.Perception of risk Strategizing Your China Sourcing
Strategizing China sourcing is not a cake walk or a quick fix solution for short-term goals. Any sourcing manager taking China sourcing as done must also be aware of political dynamics in both US and China which trigger price imbalances and that this will only lead to a degeneration of the differential prices. Nevertheless, it is true that because of low-cost manufacturing capability of China manufacturers that China sourcing is a strategic agenda.
Cost Reduction with China Sourcing
The general remark that ‘China sourcing is too big a task for too little gain’ isn’t entirely untrue. Given that, reduction in cost can’t be achieved without adapting better industrial practices such as improved design and contract terms and it must never be at the cost of quality or performance.
Cost reduction efforts payback better if china sourcing is coupled with optimal supply chain management. Exploring air freight alternative may be an option to compensate for stock-out losses.
Many common hidden expenses that eat out into the bottom line can be offset with calculated implementation of rational steps such as this, which otherwise can, in all probability, washout benefits of china sourcing strategies. On the contrary, lengthening of supply chains with China manufacturers can only beat the purpose of sourcing from china.
The impact China sourcing will have on your business will be tremendous. On one hand, there is high end-market and on the other, the low-cost and innovative china manufacturers rising upto the challenge. Giant SAP finds China manufacturers as low-cost R&D providers.
By any perspective, China sourcing is a typical long term strategic decision is a foregone conclusion. It is also one of the biggest chance your or any American companies can wish to have and stay afloat in competition without damaging profit margins. The lonely focus on China sourcing must be influenced by the desire to be closer to healthy and growing demand realities first than being fixed on cheaper costs alone to retain price competitiveness.

Terms for Shipping and Payment
- Posted by Sandy in Trade knowledge
- 2007, October 10th
Tag : china, Payment, Shipping, sourcing
The terms for payments and shipments involve all the modes of payments and shipping of the good that are followed by the business. The China sourcing can be done either with the native companies or through the third party involvement in the deal.
Once you choose the company for China sourcing outsourcing, the next step is to finalize the terms and conditions of the business. The terms and conditions specify how the business will be executed later. Some of the main issues to take care of while setting these terms, are explained below:
Terms for Payment
If you choose a direct purchase for the China sourcing, you are asked to submit a Letter of Credit for payment purposes. Letters of Credit are documents that are prepared with the help of a bank that offers some kind of security to both the parties involved in the business. Fund transfer mostly takes place when the product you want to outsource is ready for shipment and once all the shipping documents are submitted to the bank. The only disadvantage is that it is a very lengthy and complicated process and it can bind your money for a long time. On the other hand, China sourcing outsourcing through third parties offer a comparatively better deal, as it provides support for negotiating the terms and conditions. The third party and the Import/Export Company of China share a good relationship with each other, and that is the main reason for providing best deals. For purpose of making payments of the purchases, the third parties are trusted a lot by the China sourcing companies. The terms and conditions in this case may have some clause for a part of payment, before shipping of the product and the balance payment of goods are checked for quality.
Terms of Shipment
At the end it is only the eventual buyer who has to pay for everything from shipping, insurance to brokerage and duty; the only difference being the person who lay out that money at different stages. Before setting the shipping terms make sure they are adequate and cost saving for both the parties.
Duty Payment
Being one of the 'most favored nations,' the duty in China sourcing is from 3 to 7 per cent product's custom class. However, duty payment can be delayed by blocking the goods under Foreign Trade Zone, thus saving the duty amount significantly.

China Sourcing - On Solid Principles
- Posted by Sandy in Trade knowledge
- 2007, October 9th
Tag : China, cost, manufacturers, quality, sourcing
US manufacturers are rushing to China to cut costs, building their own plants. The China sourcing strategy is based on solid grounds of core business principles which are apparent in every aspect. Over the decade, China sourcing has evolved and carved a niche for itself as being strategic business partner to large corporations.
Contrary to the fading notions China sourcing is cheap due to cheap labor; true reasons are evident in its modern approach to quality and productivity.
Role of Cheap Land Cost on China Sourcing
Land cost being one of the major cost components in manufacturing has been the top contributor to the success of China sourcing till date. The logical extension of this is driving industries to setup shops in China as an alternative to China sourcing. Even after China Ministry of Land and Resources set minimum selling prices (7.7USD/square meter in northwestern Xinjiang to 107USD/square meter in the suburbs of Shanghai) for industrial lands, the prices still remain very attractive.
